Fulton County’s Kinship Care Program Seeks Volunteer Tutors to Assist Children

Fulton County’s Kinship Care Program needs volunteers to provide homework assistance weekly for elementary, middle and high school students enrolled in the Kinship Care Program. Currently, the program is seeking qualified volunteer tutors to provide weekly homework assistance.  

The Homework Assistance program serves about 20 participants, all of whom reside in Fulton County, and attend school within the Atlanta Public School District or Fulton County School District. The academic subjects targeted will be math, science, and reading. 

Tutors can utilize library resources such as computers and books to provide further assistance.   Homework Assistance sessions will be held from 3:30 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. on Wednesdays in the East Point Library meeting room. The East Point Library is located at 2757 Main Street in East Point, GA 30344. Volunteers will be needed 1-2 ½ hours weekly. 

The 2015 Homework Assistance sessions will be held on the following dates: September 9, 2015, September 16, 2015, September 23, 2015, September 30, 2015, October 7, 2015, October 14, 2015, October 21, 2015, October 28, 2015, November 4, 2015, November 11, 2015, November 18, 2015, December 9, 2015 and December 16, 2015.

The Fulton County Aging and Youth Services Department, Office of Children and Youth’s Kinship Care Program provides services to children and youth who are being raised by their relatives (grandparents, uncle, aunt, etc.).
