Commissioner Garner Hosts Major Employers in June 16 Job Fair


On June 16, 2016, District 4 Commissioner Joan P. Garner and the Fulton County Housing and Community Development Department, Workforce Development Division will host a job fair. The event will feature personnel representatives from 16 metro Atlanta employers. Among those companies that will be hiring are Coca Cola, FedEx Ground, MARTA, the Georgia World Congress Center, Wal-Mart eCommerce Fulfillment Center and Gate Gourmet. 

At least 10 other Public/Private firms will be on site from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at the Adamsville Regional Health Center at 3700 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive; Atlanta, GA 30331.

Other employers who will participate include:

  • LEGOLAND Discovery Center Atlanta
  • Dunbar Armored
  • Gwinnett County Police Department
  • Zaxby’s
  • Chatcomm911
  • Manpower
  • Ark Temporary Staffing

Schedule participation in a Job Readiness Prep Workshop:
  • Learn appropriate ways to dress to file in-person applications or attend interviews and job fairs
  • Obtain free training if the employment seeker meets eligibility criteria
  • Workforce Development services are also available at the following locations:
  • Job readiness Workshops will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 to help applicants prepare for the Job Fair. 
  • Resume Writing will be held at 11:00 a.m., Interview Skills at 1:00 p.m. and the workshops will end with a session on Dress for Success at 3:00 p.m.

Fulton County Career Expo For Job Seekers to Feature 38 Employers

Job seekers in Fulton County will  have the opportunity to talk to 38 employers who are ready to hire new employees. Commission Chairman John H. Eaves, District 7, and the Department of Housing and Community Development Office of Workforce Development will host a Career Expo to connect job seekers  with employers who are ready to hire within the next 30-60 days.

The Expo will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Welcome All Park and Multipurpose Facility located 4255 Will Lee Road, College Park, Georgia 30349.

The Office of Workforce Development has received commitments from  38 employers   who will attend the Career Expo.    Some of those participating include  Sam's Club, Frito Lay, MARTA/MARTA Police, Goldbergs Concessions Corporation, Starwood Hotels, ComCast, UniverSoul Circus, State Farm and the  Atlanta Marriott Marquis.

To assist those seeking jobs to prepare for potential interview opportunities, the Office of Workforce Development will host four workshops to help them prepare effective resumes and learn how to participate in interviews that will gain positive attention from potential employers. Additionally, the workshops will teach applicants how to dress for success. A lack of attention to any one of the aforementioned items can propel an applicant to the bottom of the list of candidates that could receive second interviews or a potential job offer.

The Job Readiness Preparation workshops will be held on the following dates:

Fulton County and MARTA to Host a Job Fair to Hire Bus Operators

MARTA is recruiting Customer focused, professional BUS OPERATOR candidates starting at $14.09 per hour.  The Fulton County Office of Workforce Development will host a Job Fair on Thursday, July 16, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Adamsville Career Center inside the Adamsville Regional Health Center located at 3700 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive 30331.

The Customer Service Test times will begin at 9:00am and 1:00pm. To be considered for this position, applicants must bring copies of the following:


  • An original 7-year Motor Vehicle Report; no more than one (1) moving violation within 24 months
  • A Copy of High School Diploma or Equivalent (G.E.D.)
  • A resume with a valid telephone number and e-mail address
  • A copy of a valid Class “A” or “B” GA CDL driver’s license or GA CDL permit, with Passenger Endorsement “P” must be presented
Applicants must bring “copies” of ALL the required documents to the Job Fair.

Education/Experience Requirements:
 
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years old
  • Must pass all pre-employment Background Screenings related to this position, which include Customer Service tests and Physical Exam, which includes drug and alcohol testing
  • Excellent customer service skills are required
 
License Requirements:

  • Valid Georgia Class “A” or “B” CDL driver’s license or GA CDL permit with Passenger Endorsement
